From Pugs to Passion: The Heartwarming Journey Behind Curly Tail Nutrition

Today we're sharing the love that sparked the creation of Curly Tail Nutrition—a journey inspired by the unconditional love for our furry companions. Meet Peyton and Bailey, the two pugs who ignited a passion for pet nutrition and set the foundation for our mission.

The Beginning: Peyton's Turkey Troubles

Peyton and Bailey were brothers who came into our family in 2005. Like most pet parents, we fed kibble and rarely changed foods. As we learned more, we started to rotate foods and sought to learn more about pet nutrition. Then, we realized that Peyton was having some symptoms that, while minor, were also not 100% normal—frequent ear infections, some digestive issues, and a cute pug tummy turning brown rather than pink.

It turned out that Peyton had an unfortunate intolerance to turkey, a common ingredient in many pet foods. Witnessing our beloved furry friend struggle with digestive issues ignited a quest for solutions. Fueled by a desire to provide the best for Peyton, we delved into the world of pet nutrition, learning the nuances of ingredients and their impact on our pets' health.

Bailey's Battle: A Senior Pug's Path with Arthritis and Cancer

We were fortunate to have many years of good health for Peyton and his twin brother, Bailey. Unfortunately, as Bailey aged, he faced the challenges of cancer and arthritis. Wanting to provide the best support for Bailey's quality of life inspired a deeper commitment to understanding how nutrition plays a pivotal role in supporting pets facing health issues. We relied upon a focused nutrition plan with key supplements, a team of excellent veterinarians, and an amazing physical therapist.

The Birth of a Dream

Out of love for Peyton and Bailey, and armed with extensive knowledge about pet nutrition further bolstered by formal education and certifications from Southern Illinois University and the Academy of Companion Nutrition, we decided to turn our passion into a purpose. Curly Tail Nutrition was born, driven by the vision of providing wholesome, tailored nutrition for every pet. We believe that every pet deserves a chance at a vibrant, healthy life, regardless of their health challenges.

Thanks to excellent care and nutrition, Peyton and Bailey lived long, fulfilling lives of 16 and 15 years, respectively. We're now sharing our lives with Oliver and Leo, two Pug brothers who have had the benefit of custom-formulated diets since puppyhood, and our newest additions, Rudy and Eli, French Bulldog brothers who have been raw fed since joining our family.
