Why I Started Curly Tail Nutrition
If you’ve ever stood in the pet food aisle reading ingredient labels and wondering:
“Is this actually the best choice for my dog?”
you’re not alone.
Curly Tail Nutrition started with that exact question.
It began with two pugs
Years ago, my first two pugs — Peyton and Bailey — changed the way I thought about dog

nutrition forever.
Peyton showed signs of a food intolerance, like a dark belly that used to be pink and yeasty ears. Bailey was later diagnosed with cancer and struggled with arthritis as he aged.
Like many dog owners, I wanted to help them feel better. But the more I researched, the more I realized something surprising:
Nutrition advice for dogs is often either oversimplified or overwhelming.
Some sources said, “Just feed a premium kibble.”
Others said, “Make food at home — it’s easy!”
But almost none explained how to make sure a homemade diet was actually complete and balanced.
So I started learning.
And then I kept learning.
Eventually I earned certifications in canine nutrition and began formulating balanced recipes myself — not just meals that looked healthy, but diets designed to meet real nutrient requirements.
That was the beginning of Curly Tail Nutrition.
Real food can be powerful — when it’s done correctly
Many dog owners are interested in feeding:
fresh food
home-prepared meals
raw diets
or even just better toppers
But they worry about doing it wrong.
And that concern is valid.
Dogs don’t just need protein and vegetables. They need the right levels of:
amino acids
minerals like calcium and zinc
essential fatty acids
vitamins
trace nutrients most people never think about
A balanced diet isn’t guesswork. It’s science.
That’s where Curly Tail Nutrition comes in.

My goal isn’t to replace your veterinarian
Curly Tail Nutrition exists to support dog owners who want to improve what goes in the bowl.
Veterinarians diagnose and treat disease.Nutrition helps support long-term health and quality of life.
My approach focuses on:
✔ whole food ingredients first
✔ evidence-based formulation standards
✔ practical recipes owners can actually follow
✔ flexibility for real households and real dogs
Because nutrition shouldn’t feel intimidating.
It should feel empowering.
Every dog is different — and that matters
Some dogs thrive on commercial food.
Others benefit from:
allergy-friendly ingredient swaps
fresh food toppers
weight-support adjustments
senior nutrition changes
fully customized home-prepared diets
There’s no single “perfect” diet for every dog.
But there is a thoughtful way to build the right one.
Curly Tail Nutrition exists to help owners do exactly that — with confidence. 🐾
